Opioid Related Struggles
Are family physicians in your state struggling with opioid related issues or simply need assistance or consultation in opioid related matters? If so, then the Opioid Response Network can help.
The Opioid Response Network (ORN) can help when technical assistance in the prevention, treatment, and recovery of opioid-use disorders is needed. The ORN was created by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and a large coalition of national professional organizations (including the AAFP) in response to the nation’s opioid crisis. The ORN provides local training and education free of charge for specific needs at a community level to address this health crisis. When someone seeks assistance, the ORN identifies individuals with training and experience in that community to help them in addressing prevention, treatment, and recovery needs and facilitate access to evidence-based resources. (More information about the ORN can be found on the AAFP Website or at the ORN Website.)
If this is a program that you feel physicians in your state would be interested in, then we would encourage you to spread the word. One option for promotion is to use your state chapter newsletters. A few other state chapters have already promoted the ORN through their state chapter newsletters by reusing a prior AAFP Chex Mix promotion that was issued on June 26th, 2019. We would encourage you to do the same — that Chex Mix communication can be found here. Other promotion efforts are welcome as well and I can work with you to provide any language and material you need.
