The information presented will be relevant to a broad range of non-dermatologists and primary care providers, including general practitioners, internists, physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, APRNs and registered nurses.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Analyze the various potencies of topical steroids and recognize which diseases and which body areas can be treated with the varying steroid classes
- Identify common skin growths and differentiate these from lesions which are concerning for skin cancer
- Identify skin cancers which require surgical intervention and the value of consultation for more complex Mohs surgery
- Recognize common skin rashes between those rashes that may have serious associated systemic implications and those that can be safely treated by primary care
- Recognize when consultation is needed for more serious conditions
